The Power of One

If you like I can’t help but read the paper or watch the news you probably feel kinda overwhelmed these days, at least I do. I don’t recall a time in my life when there has been so much uncertainty.

We just narrowly avoided a government shutdown (now I know some of you are thinking that’s not bad/I get it, but the truth is we need government, just better government). Inflation is high, interest rates are high and may be going higher. Oh, and what about that nasty recession which has been coming every minute for almost two years. And there’s Russia continuing to threaten global democracy by destroying Ukraine. And on and on… Is there a positive?

Yes, it’s what I call

THE POWER OF ONE

Years ago during a time when I was facing a lot of negatives and trying to figure it all out and fix it I focused on this concept and it’s even more powerful now. It’s about taking life one day at a time, focusing intensely on each person in our lives one at a time and helping others one smile at time.

The Power of One

The first aspect of the Power of One is to put all of life’s problems into perspective. We never know what will happen tomorrow, next week or next year. So my advice is to look at today’s reality, do what you can to make it better and then take a deep breath, smile and enjoy your day, it’s really all you have. And it offers endless opportunities to be successful and happy. Find the pony.

The Power of One

The second aspect is to really focus on each person in your life as if they’re the only person in the world. When you finish an interaction with someone the goal is for them to feel so special it’s like they’re the most important person in your life, they matter.

The Power of One

The third aspect is to take every opportunity you have to help others. And I’ve found the very best way to help others is to smile at everyone you see. You may remember me writing about the young man who jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge and died. He left a note in his apartment saying he was walking to the bridge and if One person smiled at him he would not jump. One person, one smile, one life.

The Power of One

There are endless obstacles, challenges and reasons to just give up, be depressed and consider life meaningless. That’s where millions of people are today. Reports continue to show the significant increase in anxiety, depression and unhappiness. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There is an option for each of us which makes life worth living. It’s the recognition that our life matters! We just need to recognize that each of us has a unique God-given purpose to make the world better. And you and I can start living that purpose right now by believing in

The Power of One

May God continue to bless you and your family.
