Walk A Mile in Their Shoes

Walk A Mile in Their Shoes/What does that mean? To me it’s a way of saying we should all try to really understand what others are experiencing in their daily lives. It’s easy to look at others and even judge them from our perspective, how they live vs our way of life. But maybe we would be a little more empathetic and compassionate if we were to really

When I see people on the streets begging for help I sometimes think maybe they should just get a job. But then I remember when I was 13 our family still lived in an old plank house with no insulation, no running water and no central heat. We just had an old pot belly stove in the center of the house. I remember when it was freezing outside and we had to go out to use the outhouse/ it was really cold. I wonder if someone saw us if they maybe said they should just go get a job. Would they feel different if they had to

My brother and I typically wore old shoes with holes in the bottom. It wasn’t too bad except when it was raining. Having a nice pair of shoes with no holes is a really nice luxury from my perspective of remembering when I was 13. Manny Ohomme knows about this. He is one of my heroes because he grew up in S Africa with no shoes but by the grace of God he was discovered by a U S businessman looking for basketball talent. He was selected, had a great basketball career and later co-founded Samaritan’s Feet International. Over the years his organization has provided shoes to over 10 million people around the world. Manny knows 1st hand what it’s like to

Who’s focused on helping the lower class? From my view there is a really big gap between the middle and the lower. I’ve been really blessed in my life from growing up poor, getting a great education from ECU and working for a great bank BB&T/Truist for 50 years. I don’t wear shoes with holes in the bottom anymore. We’ve had some great leaders in our country over the years and from both parties. I’ve lived the American dream but can that dream come true today. Can a kid in the 3rd grade in a public school who can’t read anywhere close to grade level claim hope for that dream? Could our leaders be more effective if they would go out and

My hope and prayer is that we stop fighting over political ideology and start fighting for all people, upper, middle and lower. Let’s fight for “the inalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness “ for Everyone. Let’s realize that we all are served best when we serve well. For my fellow believers, The Creator of The Universe understood empathy and came to the earth I believe to demonstrate how life can be lived best when we learn to
